Certified Organic (Ecocert)
Certified Biodynamic (Demeter)
Benjamin Taillandier was 27 when he started his own Domaine. It was 2007 and he purchased 6 hectares of vines surrounding Caunes-Minervois in Languedoc.
80% of the regional production goes to the local cooperatives producing wines typically concentrated and higher in alcohol. Benjamin took a different approach to that of his neighbours and produces wines full of flavour yet lighter, fresher and lower in alcohol.
Jean Baptiste Senat, a pioneer of natural winemaking in Minervois, had a big influence on Benjamin. His time working with Jean Baptiste in 2004 would shape Benjamin’s future approach to both farming and winemaking. To this day they remain firm friends.
Benjamin began working his vineyards organically from the beginning. In 2011 he attained organic certification. His holdings have increased to 22 hectares under vine, and biodynamic farming practices have been incorporated with Demeter certification coming in 2022.
Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Aramon make up the red varieties. Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Terret Gris, Terret Blanc and Macabeu (not yet in production) the whites.
The vineyards sit at 250-400 meters altitude, located between Carcassonne and the Montagne Noir. Planted mostly with goblet bush vines, aged between 35-80 years, that flourish in the Mediterranean climate. The soil is a composition of clay and limestone, with pockets of schist and sand scattered through sites.
Benjamin makes approachable wines to drink, if you’re looking for Minervois Vin de Soif then you’ve come to the right place.
